What We Handle

Dock And Hoist Service

Our crew pulls docks and boat hoists out in the fall and sets them back in each spring for lake owners across western Iowa, including Black Hawk Lake, Storm Lake, and the other lakes in our service area.

Ice can push, lift, and bend dock legs, hoist frames, and canopies that are left in the water over winter. We take off canopy covers and accessories, lower and pull hoists, take dock sections apart, and set everything on shore before the lake freezes. In spring, after the ice goes out, we set your dock back in, level it, and position your hoist for your boat and the water depth at your shoreline.

  • Dock section removal
  • Boat hoist removal
  • Canopy cover removal
  • Spring dock installation
  • Spring hoist installation
  • Leveling and height adjustment
  • Cable, winch, and bunk check
  • New dock and hoist setup

Fall Removal

Plan removal early in the fall, before ice starts to form on your lake. Here is what happens on removal day.

  • Canopy covers and accessories come off first
  • Your hoist is lowered and brought to shore
  • Dock sections are disconnected and pulled out
  • Everything is set on shore for the winter

Plan to have your boat off the hoist before your removal date.

Spring Installation

Once the ice is out and the water is workable, we set everything back where it belongs.

  • Dock sections are set, connected, and leveled
  • Your hoist is positioned for your boat and water depth
  • Canopy covers go back on
  • Cables, winch, and bunks get a quick check

Spring dates fill quickly after ice out, so request your spot early in the year.

Built For The Job

Meet Our Work Barge

Our crew brings its own work barge to the lake, so docks and hoists can be handled from the water side of your shoreline.

The barge carries our crew and equipment right up to your dock, and its lifting arm helps with heavy hoist frames and dock sections as they go in and come out. It travels between area lakes on its own trailer, so the same setup is ready wherever your shoreline is.

  • Works from the water side
  • Lifting arm for heavy equipment
  • Trailered between area lakes
How It Works

Four steps take you from your request to a dock and hoist that are ready for the season.

  2. We Confirm The Details

  3. Service Day

Our crew arrives on your scheduled date and handles the removal or installation from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dock And Hoist FAQ

Contact our Service Department early in the fall so the work is done before ice forms on your lake. Our fall calendar fills quickly once the weather turns, so an early request gives you the best choice of dates.

Installation starts after ice out, once the water and shoreline are workable. Exact timing depends on the weather each year, and we schedule installations as conditions allow.

Not always. Tell us about gates, access, and anything our crew should know when you send your request, and we will confirm the details with you before your date.

We carry ShoreStation and ShoreLandr, and we can often handle other makes as well. Include the make and model of your dock and hoist in your request so we can confirm before service day.

Take your boat off the hoist and out of the water before your removal date. If you would like it winterized or stored indoors with us, mention that in your request and we can plan it all together.
